Unity
Unity is a cultural publication produced for Thompson Hospitality and Compass Group, both leaders in foodservice. It adds value to a commodity service and differentiates the clients in the marketplace. Unity is distributed six times per year at client sites such as Microsoft, Bank of America, Boeing, Steelcase, Michelin and IBM. Stories are positive and inspiring, and they focus on the food, art and culture of a diverse American population. Philatás creates all the content for Unity and completes the project with graphic design and fulfillment services.

Fund raising
Public Library of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County (PLCMC)
Needing a communications piece for patrons and potential donors, PLCMC relied on Philatás to plan, write and design its 16-page fund-development brochure. It tells the story of the public library and highlights successful programs targeting preschoolers, K-12 and college students, business professionals and the community at large. In addition to the main library in uptown Charlotte, PLCMC operates more than 20 branches including the Spangler Children’s Library located inside ImaginOn.

Camp Debbie Lou
Tucked away in the tall pines of South Carolina is a rollicking camp for children who have been diagnosed with and are being treated for cancer. It’s an adult-size health issue, but these kids face it with courage. Camp Debbie Lou is not only for kids but also their families, and while there, the kids are encouraged to do what they do best — act like kids. Go-carts, horseback riding, water sports or maybe just fishing on a lazy afternoon — the retreat offers a safe environment where the worries of treatment and survival can drift away in the wind. Philatás created the copy for the camp's Web site.

Anuvia Prevention & Recovery Center
Under its previous name, the Chemical Dependency Center (CDC), this client faced a number of challenges in the marketplace: CDC is also the acronym for the Centers for Disease Control, and the tone of the brand was perceived as harsh. Philatás connected with Addison Whitney, a leading brand identity firm, to create a new name and logo, and then Philatás created and executed a strategy for implementing the new brand. The success of this project comes from creating a completely new perception of recovery. Anuvia is a place where people who are struggling with dependency can find a new way of living.

Crisis Assistance Ministry’s Non Event
Have you ever been to a Non Event, yet you were excited to tell someone about it? Each year, Crisis Assistance Ministry advertises through direct mail an event that never takes place. Donations go directly to serve families in need of emergency financial assistance rather than caterers and hotels. It’s a fun “event” that donors look forward to every year. In 2008, Philatás created the concept and design for this successful direct mail piece.

Sales collateral comes in all shapes and sizes, but from a content development standpoint, the goal is to include just enough information to facilitate an action, such as calling a rep or placing an order online. Most businesses know their products and services inside and out, but they struggle to communicate features and benefits concisely and effectively. Our team has many years of experience in presenting tangible and intangible products and services, including ones that are highly technical, in a way that impacts clients.

Heineman Medical Research (HMR)
This project is an example of our ability to sort through large amounts of complex data and render it as clean, informative and engaging copy. Working with ad agency Lippi Advertising, Philatás wrote all the copy for Heineman Medical Research’s most important communications piece. Included in the copy were scientific details and terms related to cardiovascular research and the treatment of cardiovascular disease. The result was a very readable brochure that was used to gain research grants and raise funds from private donors.

Chef Spotlight
Foodservice giant Thompson Hospitality works with major corporations, colleges and museums across the country to provide on-site dining services. Chef Spotlight is a live cooking exhibition that creates excitement for the cooking staff as well as customers, and it helps position Thompson Hospitality as a vendor that adds value to an otherwise commodity service. The point-of-sale materials include posters, signs and recipe fliers that customers can take home and try in their own kitchens.

Symposium journals
Genworth Financial
Large corporations and nonprofits often plan retreats and symposiums that require creative marketing efforts just like their primary products and services. This piece for Genworth Financial went beyond the usual effort to publicize workshops, speakers and venues. A custom layout was created, along with custom logos, advertisements and tag lines, to give this symposium journal the look and feel of a Broadway playbill.
Annual reports
Annual reports are mandatory communications pieces that provide management and financial reports to stockholders and/or other critical audiences. Done well, they are useful in sales and marketing, fund raising, public relations and obtaining grants. Philatás has designed and helped shape the content for numerous annual reports.
